MS FARAH – Departs Luxor Tuesday at approx 1300 Cruise Itinerary MONDAY Arrive at Luxor airport. Meet and greet by a local representative and transfer to the MS Farah.. Beck in to your cabin before dinner and over night on board. TUESDAY Enjoy your first sunrise as we take an early morning tour to the East Bank temples of Karnak and Luxor. Karnak is the biggest temple complex in the world with the famous 138 gigantic columns. Luxor faces the Nile and was originally joined to Karnak by an avenue of Sphinxes over 2 kms long. Following this we set sail for Esna and take lunch on board. Afternoon is free for leisure. Dinner and overnight on board. WEDNESDAY Morning sightseeing of Edfu, and the extraordinary Temple of Horus; the mythical son of Isis and Osiris. Here, legend says, Horus avenged the murder of his father Osiris by defeating his father's brother Seth in combat. Following this we sail on to Kom Ombo enjoying lunch on board and then an afternoon free for leisure as we sail to Aswan. Dinner and overnight on board. THURSDAY Visit the high dam, which controls the flow of the Nile; an engineering miracle when it was built in the 1960s. It contains 18 times the material used in the Great Pyramid of Cheops. Then onto the unfinished obelisk in its bedrock of pink granite, a short boat trip is taken to the Temple of Philae dedicated to the Egyptian god Isis. The temple was moved 550 metres from its original location on Philae Island in 1971, when the high dam was completed; using money from UNESCO to its new home on Agilika Island. Following lunch the afternoon is free for leisure. Dinner and overnight on board FRIDAY An early departure if the optional excursion to Abu Simbel by air has been chosen. Lunch on board and then an afternoon felucca cruise along the Nile enjoying the views of the Aga Khan mausoleum, Elephantine and Kitcheners Islands. Dinner and overnight board. SATURDAY Early morning sailing to Kom Ombo, where we visit the temple dedicated to the two gods Sobek and Haroeris. Sobek was the crocodile god of Nile fertility. After this we continue sailing north enjoying the Nile views and life. Lunch, dinner and overnight on board. SUNDAY Today we continue sailing north, crossing the lock at Esna. Lunch on board and then afternoon free for leisure as we sail to Luxor Arrive Luxor. Dinner and overnight on board. MONDAY Today we take an early morning excursion o the Necropolis of Thebes, better known as the West Bank of Luxor. Here we visit the Valley of the Kings and the tombs of the new kingdom pharaohs; including Tutankhamen (separate ticket required) and Ramses the Great. After this we move to the Temple of Deir El Bahari, the mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut with its 3 terraces before a photo stop at the imposing Colossi of Memnon. Lunch on board then transfer to the airport for your flight home.
